Here we have outlined the major steps in preparing and installing eco-bricks, plastic bottles stuffed with inorganic trash.
Step 1: Collect and fill thousands of bottles with trash! Each eco-brick must be completely full, making it as hard as an actual brick. After hundreds of hours of preparation, the community gathers enough for their intended classrooms.
Step 1A: While the students and their families collect the materials needed for their eco-bricks, a contractor sent from the municipality (aka “muni”), along with parent volunteers, begin framing the walls of the school with rebar and concrete. They install the pins needed for the next step.
Step 2: Next, we measure and cut chicken wire to the size of each square, or frame. We bend the aforementioned pins to hold the wire tightly in place.
